The topic of discussion in English was whether or not marijuana should be legal, and why. For me, someone who has never touched a joint or a beer in my life, it was interesting, and also quite shocking to listen to all the reasons why it should be legal. The common consensus was that marijuana should be legal, and that alcohol should be illegal. Marijuana, for most kids, is a way of escape from the daily troubles and hassles in their lives. Marijuana it turns out, doesn't do anything except make most people relax. Unlike when you're drunk, you still have a pretty good sense of what's going on while you're high. It also turns out that most drug users, after they've tried everything, go back to marijuana because after you've come down, you don't feel like crap. It gives you the same great feeling but leaves you still feeling good after you're done. Me? I was one of the few that could raise their hand when it was asked, "Who doesn't smoke marijuana?" I don't think I'll ever do marijuana in the future. It doesn't seem to have any real effect except that it relaxes you. If it ever does become legal, I might try it once.
